Advice, with the right to be ignored
A board that can overrule the organisers is a second organising team. So the board advises, the team decides, and the team explains itself.
Reads the programme early
While a bad call is still reversible.
Keeps us honest about size
Says when an ambition outgrows the volunteers available.
Sits outside the money
No part in sponsorship, and nothing received for the role.
Disagrees in public
A board that never disagrees is decoration.

Can the board overrule the organisers?
No, on purpose. Two teams running one conference is how a conference stops happening.
How long is a term?
One edition. An advisor who wants to carry on is asked again. Nobody's name stays here longer than their involvement.
